Obra Gad and Devkiyara lies between Rupin and Supin valley

Obra Gad is at a height of 3500 meters and is opposite to Har Ki Dun valley. Devkiyara height is 4100 meters and it is a wide 4 km grassland with extremely beautiful views and blossoming flowers, both of them are between valley of Rupin and Supin. On this trek explore two idyllic places of Garhwal Himalayas together.

Attractions of Obra Gad Trek

Get clear views of Rangnala Peaks, Daowdu, High Himalayan peaks, ridges and some unnamed mountains. En route go through Himalayan villages and explore their culture and traditions.

Obra Temple is one of the major attraction of this place “Obra Temple” is of Someshwar Devta worshipped by people of different villages.

The villagers carry a pilgrimage every year from Jakhol to this picturesque Obra valley. Devkiyara meadow is 4 km wide and offers delicious view of mountains. Camping there is a bliss for trekkers.

Mobile Connectivity – Your device will receive signals at Purola. At Sankri your device can receive BSNL and Vodafone signals but the connectivity is not good. There will be no networks ahead so finish all your important work and calls before starting of the trek.

Itinerary

Day 1- Dehradun to Sankri (1920 m) (210 km) (7/8 hours)

Our pick up point is Dehradun Railway station or ISBT, meet us there and then drive is towards Sankri. You can have your breakfast at Kempty Fall which is a famous picnic spot and is famous for a waterfall. Have your lunch in middle of your journey at Purola.

It’s a picturesque drive to Sankri, you will get fetching views through your window, and the drive will be through Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainbagh, Damta, Newman, Purola, Mori, Netwar these are beautiful places in the Himalayas. Sankri lies in Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarkashi district, it is a village with a mini market famous for wooden huts which serve delectable food. You will see apple orchards here and greenery all around.

Reach Sankri have a glace of snow covered mountains, this place is pollution free, enjoy the invigorating climate. We own a hotel there named “Swargarohini”, relax for the night here.

Day 2- Drive from Sankri to Jakhol (19 km) trek to Obra (2500 m) (6 km) (4/5 hours)

Post breakfast drive is towards Jakhol, the starting point of this trek and a village in Mori. Start the journey and go through picturesque villages of Himalayas, you will be surprised by their simplicity and how they smile every time, no matter in what conditions they are living.

You will surely love the trek to Obra through meadows of Baincha and ahead lies an extremely beautiful temple with perfect architecture which is rare to find anywhere else. Setup the camps at Obra lying 1 km away from this point. It is a wide meadow having much space for camping.

Rest at the campsite after pitching the tents, wait for the delectable food to be served then sleep comfortably in your tents.

Day 3- Obra to Bhawa (3500 m) (8 km) (5/6 hours) overnight stay in camps

After breakfast trek towards Bhawa, the trail will take you through the dark forest, once this section is crossed a grassland will welcome you with amazing colourful wildflower lined aside.

Bhawa is your campsite for the day and it is at the ridge top which divides Obra valley. From this high point get good views of Devkiyara and Fithari village.

Setup your tents and feel the peaceful aura of this place. Have food and comfortably sleep in your tents.

Day 4- Bhawa to Devkiyara (4100 m) (5 km) (4/5 hours) overnight stay in camps

Today you will be trekking on the grassy meadows to reach Devkiyara and it is going to be very pleasant. On the trek get great mountain views and scenic beauty of the valley is just heart-warming.

Devkiyara is a long wide meadow and the high Himalayan peaks surrounds it. From here get the sight of Daowdu and Rangnala peaks with other towering ranges and villages. Spend your night here at this pristine place with amusing views.

Day 5- Devkiyara to Obra (3500 m) (13 km) (7/8 hours) overnight stay in camps

Obra lies opposite to the valley of Har Ki Dun, you have to descent from Devkiyara through dense forests and series of meadows. Descent and reach Obra valley.

It is the most beautiful valley in Garhwal Himalayas, Obra River flows below and there is one “Obra Temple” it is the temple of Someshwar Devta worshipped by people of different villages. The villagers carry a pilgrimage every year from Jakhol to this picturesque Obra valley. Set up your camps here in the serene environment and rest for the night.

Day 6- Obra to Jakhol (6 km) (4/5 hours) Drive to Sankri (19 km) overnight stay in a hotel

Today get back to Jakhol from where the trek started, reach Dhara after trekking through the undulating meadows and forests with variety of trees. There is also another route to reach Dhara, by crossing a high ridge.

En route come across a temple of Someshwar Devta on River Supin’s right. Further lies Jakhol, vehicles will be arranged from there till Sankri and the stay will be arranged in hotel Swargarohini.

Day 7- Sankri to Dehradun (210 km) (7/8 hours)

After breakfast leave for Dehradun early and have lunch on the way.
