Himari is at an altitude of (1554 m). The drive to Himari camp is one of the most picturesque drives in the Himalayas through Dehradun, Mussoorie, Nainbagh, Damta, Nawgano, Purola, Mori and Netwar. The journey is towards Tons valley.
The drive to Himari camp is on beautiful mountain roads and steadily gain altitude as you reach Dhaula. Deep valleys and thick forest accompanies you. This campsite is great for birding and surrounded by beautiful mountains and local villages.
In Chirbasa there are pine trees all around so it is named “Chirbasa” meaning of Chir is Pine. You have to go through a market and from that trail, you will come to a forest area and when you enter there you will have some majestic views of peaks in front, they look mesmerizing as you get the front view of mountains. Today’s trek is an easy one as you have to walk on the leveled trail. Cross a bridge over a stream and after few minutes a valley unfolds which looks beautiful and picture-perfect.
After crossing ridges and going through dense pine forest, you will come across many boulders and the way is between two big boulders, you will stones and rocks on the way, this can also be called boulder zone. Walk carefully on that path so you don’t get slipped because of the rocks, continue walking on the same trail to reach Chirbasa.
The way to Chirbasa is through the pine forest, we are going to reach there in a few minutes. Chirbasa campsite is surrounded by pine trees and Bhagirathi rivers flow near. From here you can have a glance at Gomukh glacier and Bhagirathi group of peaks. Start setting your tents, relax there and dinner and overnight stay in tents.
Have breakfast and then trek starts, the area is into a bright green land. Badang is a meadow at a high point on the ridge dividing Rupin and Supin valley and then the panorama views are visible from there.
Towards the north, you can see west peaks of Himachal. Early morning views from there are mesmerizing. You can see Swargarohini from here (6,387 m) it is a gigantic mountain with four separate peaks and looks very unique and enchanting.
Then the trail moves through fairly dense forest sections as we gradually gain height. The Rupin and Supin flow on the west and can be seen flowing through the valley, now we have to head towards North. Enter into small meadows and streams snakes their way through them on the way, you can take your rest breaks here.
Start trekking towards Badang it is a wide meadow and is bright green the setting is picturesque.
Today you have to ascent all way up to Vijay Top which is at an altitude of 3878 m, there will be snow-covered trails in winters. As you go further Vijay Top will be visible and the first sight will add a spark to reach there, continue your trek and don’t miss out to witness the beautiful surroundings.
It is an easy to moderate climb, reach Vijay Top and you can see the panorama views, relish the sights of Swargarohini – (I) (II) (III) (6300 m), Bandar Poonch peak (6316 m) and Black peak (6387 m) altogether. Rupin & Supin valley, Baraadsar range, Kanasar Lake, Phulara ridge, Bali Pass and Sarutal.
Descent to Pachi Thach through a thick forest, it is your campsite for today. Set up your camps there and retire for the night.
Start the trek through dense forest, en route the mountain views will please you. Ahead are villages, forest clearings and wide meadows. Reach Bada Thach your campsite for today from here get heart-warming views of Black Peak, Bandarpoonch and Swargarohini.
Towards west side see the peaks which are present around Kinnaur. Supin valley has got beautiful campsites and Bada Thach is one of them. Pitch your tents here and comfortably sleep in tents.
Bid adieu to this beautiful campsite and start the trek towards Jakhol. En route is many farms and ahead lies Fithari and Dhara village. There is a temple of Someshwar Devta to the right River Supin, worshipped by the villagers.
Jakhol is a small village and endpoint of this trek. Drive is towards Sankri, reach there and arrangements will be made in a hotel.
Post breakfast leave for Dehradun early to reach there on time.
